It seems like more and more small businesses are setting minimums for credit card purchases. As cash becomes more and more obsolete, businesses are taking action to prevent profits from being diminished by fees imposed by credit card companies. Hopefully, this post will enlighten you to this and encourage you to take action.
I recently visited a Brown Elephant Resale Store in Chicago, Illinois. I browsed through the products and after finding what I wanted to purchase I made my way to the register to pay. I was surprised to find I was not allowed to make the purchase because of an imposed minimum credit card purchase requirement. I was aware that this is not allowed under the Visa merchant agreement (thanks to Blowesha’s ex-LOML) and explained the situation to the cashier. She told me she could not do anything and as a result I was unable to purchase what I wanted. Here is a link to a website I found today that explains things a little better.
Don’t let yourself be bullied by these companies. Report these companies that are not allowing you to make purchases based upon the amount you spend.
