I was talking with my Mom earlier today about the major ice storm that has taken over Oklahoma the last few days. She said they have had about an inch of ice. Yikes! Many places have been without power because of the ice on power lines. A tree fell on my sister’s car. Luckily, there was no damage. It’s been pretty crazy there the last few days.
We do things differently in Oklahoma. One thing is how we predict the weather. In order to predict how bad the winter is we take a persimmon seed and cut it in half. You will see either a spoon, fork, or knife. My Mom said this year the seeds had spoons so it will be a rough, snowy winter for them. And if the persimmon seeds weren’t enough evidence, my Dad went hunting earlier this year and said that the animals had big, furry coats.
You see, predicting the weather is as simple as that!
Now where’s my persimmon seed?
